Mt. Samat Bataan

Mount Samat was famous because of its big cross that stands at the top of it. It was located at Pilar Bataan. The cross is about 92 meters tall from the base and was dedicated to the fallen Filipinos and Americans during the world war II.

From the foot of Mt. Samat we decided to hire a tricycle going to the cross since we have limited time. But if you opt to walk until the cross it may take you up to two hours. Fare cost us Php 200.00 each two-way.
Upon reaching the entrance you have to pay an entrance fee that cost Php30.00 each. While paying for the entrance, they told us that going at the top of the cross was prohibited at that time because the elevator going up is under maintenance. We are saddenned about that news but anyway we still enjoyed the place.

Before you reach the base of the cross you have to walk  around 1 kilometer going up. If you don't want to walk you can ask the tricycle driver to drop you at the base of the cross for there is a road going up there. We choose to walk going up and it is better because of the panoramic view that you will be witnessing while taking the 1 kilometer walk going up.

Below the cross is the World War II museum. Upon entering the museum you have to surrender your ticket to the guard at the entrance of the museum.
