One day trip to Bataan

The War Memorial Cross

Bataan located at Central Luzon that was known with its historical places because it is where the infamous death march happens during World War II known as Bataan Death March.

It was already eleven o'clock in the morning when we reached the terminal of Balanga Bataan via Bataan Transit from Cubao Terminal. Fare costs us Php 200.00 per person. Bataan Transit Terminal in Manila was located at the Five star terminal in Cubao. Since it was nearly lunch time we decided to eat first before roaming around the place. From Bataan  terminal we walk going right and found a restaurant called Yummy Topps. As we entered the restaurant we didn't expect the cozy ambience inside because if you will look from the outside it was an old house that was
converted into restaurant. Yummy topps was located right in front of Iglesia ni Cristo. For more experience at Yummy Tops you may click here.

After we ate our lunch we asked the one of the crew of the restaurant  on how to go to Saint Joseph Cathedral and he instructed us to ride a tricycle and tell to the tricycle driver that we are going to Saint Joseph Cathedral. Fare is Php10.00 each. So we did what they told us and we didn't expect that from Yummy Tops is just a few blocks away to the Cathedral. Unfortunately the church was closed. We ask the residents on how to go inside the church hoping that there is another way going in. They said to us that the church is closed during noon so we just took pictures outside the church.

Saint Joseph Cathedral
By the way in front of the church is a mall that you won't believe that it was a mall until you see their logo because of its structure. Also infront of the church is their City hall.

Mall in front of the cathedral

After taking some pictures we ride again in a tricycle going to the terminal of Balanga that cost us Php10.00 each for our next destination is at Mt. Samat.

Going to Mt. Samat we ride a jeepney bound to Cabog-cabog that costs us Php18.00 each. Ordinary buses are also available just ride a bus bound to Morong for they also passes at the foot of Mt. Samat.

At the foot of Mt.Samat we are welcome by the tricycle drivers convincing us to take a ride going up  instead of walk. As they have said, the distance from the foot to the cross is around 8km that will took us 2 hours of walking. Since we have a limited time we decided to hire a tricycle that costs us Php200.00 each for two way. While travelling going up we are thankful that we hire a tricycle because of our limited time and it was really far.

At the entrance we paid Php30.00 each for the entrance fee and sadly they informed us that the elevator going up to the cross was under maintenance. We are saddened about that news but anyway, we still enjoyed the place. For our more experience at Mt. Samat you may click here

After our trip in Mt. Samat we decided to go to Morong. We waited for around 30 minutes for the bus bound to Morong at the foot of Mt. Samat. We reached the highway around 3:30pm and the residents their told us that the bus will pass by 4:00pm and advises us to wait and make sure that we have to ride on that bus because if we don't we have to wait again another 1 hour for the next bus. Beware of the tricycle drivers that will offers you expensive trip going to Bagac. If you are planning to go to Bagac from Mt. Samat, there are also jeepneys that passes by and you can also ride a bus bound to Morong or if you cannot wait you have to travel back to Balanga terminal and ride a jeep there going to Bagac or bus bound to Morong.

Around 4:00 pm, as the residents told us the bus passes by and luckily the bus is not that yet full it can still accommodate standing position. The fare going to Kanawan Morong cost us Php55.00.
It took us around 1 hour and 30 minutes to reach Kanawan for we are planning to go to Kanawan bridge. At the last stop of the bus finally we reach the place. Going to Kanawan bridge, you have to ride a tricycle that costs us Php60.00 each two-way. Upon reaching the Kanawan bridge we are overwhelmed by the view. After  going to Kanawan bridge we decided to go to Olongapo and ride a bus there going back to Manila. The last trip of the bus going to Olongapo is at 7:00pm. Fare going to Olangapo from Kanawan costs us Php45.00.

Reaching Olongapo we ate our dinner first before going to the terminal bound to Manila. Going to the terminal bound to Manila, just ride a yellow jeep and tell to the driver to drop you at the terminal bound to Manila. We decide to ride on a Victory liner bus going to Manila so we ask the jeepney driver to drop us at the terminal. Fare costs us Php7.00.
