Divine Mercy Shrine

A 9 hectares solemn and peaceful place is located at El Salvador Misamis, Oriental Philippines that was managed by Divine Mercy Foundation. It features Divine Mercy Christ Statue that stands 50 feet tall, a tract of land overlooking Macajalar Bay on the southern Island of Mindanao. The Shrine was opened last 2008 that serves as pilgrimage for the Divine Mercy Devotees.

Upon entering the shrine you will noticed that there are long skirts at the entrance. For women, jeans, shorts and shorts skirts are not allowed inside so you have to wear one which serves as respect to the place. If you are on a revealing clothes such as sleeveless, tube, etc. these are also not allowed. Donations for the borrowed long skirt is optional but it is better if you donate because it is used for the improvement of the place.

This is a drinking water on the area which they called "Holy Water" as it brings miracles to people who drink it.

Prayer Before Drinking the Water

Going up, which is in the heart of the Big Statue of Jesus Sacred Heart you have to attend first an orientation where they will discuss the Do's and Don'ts before, upon and after climbing the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

First, you have to leave your things at the baggage counter including your cellphones or any gadgets because you are not allowed to take photo while going up on top. Anyway, you are there to pray. After the orientation, they will give you a pass which you will give to the guard in charge at the Heart of Jesus. Then a small piece of paper with a prayer in front that you will read while climbing on the Heart and on the back of the yellow paper you can write your prayer request after climbing the Heart of Jesus. But before you write your prayer request you have to claim your baggage first.

Overall the place was nice, peaceful and clean and there are more on going improvements in the area that will surely make the place more beautiful.
