The Truth Behind Travelling Solo
Travelling Solo is about being yourself. You can do the things you wanted to do at your own time. You can visit the places you want to visit anytime you want. Travelling Solo is about finding your inner self and all about clearing your minds and putting away stress in your body. There are lots of advantages in travelling solo. But what are the disadvantages in travelling solo?
1. Single - I am not saying that if you travel solo you are single. There are also married people who choose to travel solo. What am I saying here is that there's no one you can't count on but you yourself. Sometimes travelling solo is a little bit lonely. There are times that you want someone to talk to but there is no one to talk to. When you are lost there are times that you don't know what to do because you don't know the place and the people. There are also times that all you want is go home but you cannot. Well, this may happen if you are not fully prepared physically and mentally. Take note that its your choice to travel solo and if you did this you have to be brave and believe in yourself and 100% sure that you want to do it.
2. Responsibility - Travelling solo makes you responsible for all the things like in researching to the place that you are going, carrying your bags, taking a picture to yourself, asking for a direction, if you are lost you have to figure out alone on how to go to the place that you are going. This means that you have to prepare yourself and embrace all the responsibilities.
3. Emptiness - I mentioned a while ago travelling is a little bit lonely because you don't have friends or family to travel with. There's no one you can talk to and its you alone who can experience the adventures that will come. Sometimes you wish that your friends or family is with you for you to be happier and fill in the emptiness inside you. Again I repeat that if you want to travel solo you have to be 100% sure.
4. Expensive - Travelling solo is more expensive compare to travelling in group because you will shoulder all the expenses. To cut your expense you have to stay on a dormitory type hostel, ride on a public transportation and eat like locals do.
5. Struggle in taking pictures - Yes it is true that sometimes its hard to take a decent picture of yourself with the beautiful scenery on the background. To get a good shot you have to ask other people to take a picture of you and sometimes its awkward to ask for it because there are times that the person you will be asking to take a picture will just ignore you or worst stole your camera or phone.
6. Risky - Travelling solo is risky because most of the time you don't know the people around you and you don't know their intentions when they approach you. With this, being extra careful and vigilant are the best thing to do. Always keep your valuables secured and as much as possible don't bring expensive items like jewelries during your travels.
